Verb কাকে বলে
বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত যে শব্দের দ্বারা কোনো প্রকার কাজ করা/হওয়া অথবা কোনো অবস্থা বোঝায় তাকেই Verb বলে। যেমন: play (খেলা), see (দেখা), read (পড়া), write (লেখা), laugh (হাসি), cry (কান্না), eat (খাওয়া) ইত্যাদি।
Verb এর উদাহরণ
- We live in India.
- He plays cricket.
- They write a letter.
Verb এর প্রকারভেদ
- Finite verb
- Non finite verb
Finite Verb কাকে বলে
যে সকল Verb দ্বারা বক্তার বক্তব্য সম্পূর্ণরূপে শেষ হয়ে যায় এবং Subject এর Number, Person অনুযায়ী যে Verb এর রূপ পরিবর্তন ঘটে তাকে Finite Verb বলে। যেমন: live, work, walk, play, cook ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
I like video games.
He lives in Spain.
Tanuja cooked biriyani for dinner.
Finite Verb আবার দুই প্রকার যথা:- 1) Principal Verb. 2) Auxiliary Verb.
Principal verb
যে verb অন্য কোনো verb এর সাহায্য ছাড়াই নিজেই স্বাধীনভাবে ক্রিয়া সম্পাদন করে অর্থ প্রকাশ করে, তাকে Principal verb বলে। যেমন: eat, play, run, sleep, write ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
They play football.
He writes a poem.
I eat breakfast.
Auxiliary Verb কাকে বলে
Auxiliary Verb কে সাহায্যকারী verb বলা হয়। Sentence এ ব্যবহৃত যে সকল verb এর নিজস্ব কোনো অর্থ থাকে না Tense, Mood ও Voice গঠনে Principal Verb কে সাহায্য করে, তাদেরকে Auxiliary Verb বলে। যেমন: am, is, are, was, were, shall, will ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
I am watching TV.
Rahim is talking to Runa.
They are going to School.
Auxiliary Verb দুই প্রকার যথা:- 1) Primary Auxiliary Verb. 2) Modal Auxiliary Verb
Primary Auxiliary Verb
যে verb গুলিকে বাক্যে মূলত helping verb হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা তাকে Primary auxiliary verb বলে। যেমন: Be - Am, is, are, was, were, be, to be, been, was not ইত্যাদি।
Have- Have, has, had, having, had not ইত্যাদি।
Do- Do, does, done, to do, did, did not, does not ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
She is a teacher.
You have done your work.
He did his homework.
Modal Auxiliary Verb
Modal auxiliary verb সাধারণত ক্রিয়া সম্পাদনের ক্ষেত্রে বক্তার মনোভাব ব্যক্ত করতে মূল verb কে সাহায্য করে। যেমন: can, could, may, might ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
She can read English language.
May I come into the classroom.
I don't care what they might say.
Non finite verb কাকে বলে
যেসব verb দ্বারা কোনো বাক্যে বক্তার বক্তব্য সম্পূর্ণ বা শেষ হয় না এবং Subject এর Number, Person অনুযায়ী যে Verb এর রূপের পরিবর্তন হয় না তাকেই Non finite verb বলে। যেমন: eating, dancing, looking, to play ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
Sinthiya loves to play hide n seek.
I hate eating junk food.
The dancing floor is shining.
Non finite verb তিন প্রকার যথা:- 1) Infinitive. 2) Participle. 3) Gerund.
Infinitive
Verb এর Present form এর পূর্বে to বসিয়ে Infinitive গঠন করা হয়। যেমন: to run, to eat, to sleep ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
I like to run.
I love to eat rice.
He used to sleep in the darkness.
Participle
Verb এর যে রূপ একই সঙ্গে Verb ও Adjective এর কাজ সম্পন্ন করে তাকেই Participle বলে। যেমন: played, ran, have written ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
He had played there.
I ran to the school.
We have written a letter.
Gerund
কোনো -ing যুক্ত verb যদি বাক্যের Subject হিসেবে, মূল verb-এর Object হিসেবে অথবা Preposition-এর Object হিসেবে কাজ করে তাকে Gerund বলে। যেমন: dancing, cooking, writing ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
Dancing is my passion.
I love cooking.
Writing in English is different.
Action verb কাকে বলে
যে Verb একটি Sentence এর মধ্যে Subject এর কাজকে বর্ণনা করে এবং প্রয়োজনে continuous tense এ ব্যবহার করা যায় তাকে Action verb বলে। যেমন: drink, dance, eat, buy, jump ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
What do you like to drink.
We eat healthy foods.
Can you please buy some fruits for me?
Action verb দুই প্রকার যথা:- 1) Transitive 2) Intransitive
Transitive Verb
যে সমস্ত verb একা কোনো অর্থ প্রকাশ করে না verb এর অর্থ প্রকাশের জন্য সাথে object থাকে তাকে Transitive Verb বলে। যেমন: pay, borrow, write, offer ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
Rajesh borrowed the english book from her friend.
I ate a pizza for dinner.
We wrote an essay.
Intransitive Verb
Intransitive Verb হল যে verb এর অর্থ প্রকাশ করার জন্য কোনো Object এর প্রয়োজন হয় না। যেমন: cry, laugh, walk ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ
Ramen walked through the park.
The baby cried loudly.
The baby laughs all day.
Linking Verb কাকে বলে
যে সমস্ত verb নিজে কোন কাজ সম্পন্ন না করে verb এর পূর্বে ব্যবহৃত Subject ও verb এর পরে ব্যবহৃত Adjective বা Noun এর মধ্যে যোগাযোগ স্থাপন করে তাদেরকে Linking Verbs বলে। যেমন: be, seem, appear, become, feel, grow, look ইত্যাদি।
উদাহরণ:
I am a boy.
You seem happy.
I feel tired.
